What it is

Good urological treatment depends on measuring things rather than guessing at them. Uroflowmetry records the actual rate and shape of the urine stream. Ultrasound with post-void residual shows how completely the bladder empties. Semen analysis reported to WHO parameters is the foundation of any male fertility assessment. Urine culture can identify bacteria and help guide antibiotic selection.

Who it may suit

Used in the assessment of prostate and voiding symptoms, recurrent urinary infection, stone disease, incontinence, and male fertility concerns — and to check objectively whether a treatment has actually worked.

Anaesthesia & recovery

These are generally outpatient tests. For uroflowmetry, you may be asked to arrive with a comfortably full bladder. For semen analysis, follow the testing laboratory's instructions on the interval without ejaculation, the collection container and delivery time. Confirm these instructions when booking, as preparation and sample handling affect the result.

Important

Whether a particular procedure is right for you can only be decided after consultation and investigation. Recovery times below are typical and not a promise; every operation carries risks, which are explained in full before you consent.
